Families and friends of Cloontagh NS joined with the children and staff on June 26th to celebrate the end of the school year and to say goodbye to our sixth class pupils. Father Patsy said Mass in the school and all of the children participated. The sixth class pupils did the readings, said the Prayers of the Faithful and brought the gifts to the altar. The children provided music and singing, accompanied by Mrs Smyth and our accomplished musicians. Laura Kavanagh played the violin, Amy Jordan played guitar and the children from second to sixth class played their tin whistles. At the end of the ceremony Certificates of Completion were presented to the sixth class pupils and Mrs Ferguson complemented them on their achievements during their time in the school and wished them well for the future.
After the Mass everyone went outside for the raising of the school’s fifth Green Flag. This marked the successful completion of a Biodiversity Project. The flag was raised by the oldest and the youngest pupils in the school, Cian Cosgrove and Willow Kelly. The celebrations continued with refreshments served by the Parents Association.
