Smiles all round for the winners from Cloontagh NS who have qualified to go to the County Finals on Saturday, 1st April in St. Mary’s NS, Edgeworthstown.

  • Charlie who came 1st in the Under 10’s Handwriting Competition
  • Tyler who came 2nd and John James who came 3rd in the Under 12’s Boys Art Competition
  • Gerard who came 1st in the Under 14’s Boys Art Competition and 2nd in the Under 14’s Handwriting Competition
  • Cristopher who came 2nd in the Under 14’s Art Competition and 1st in the Under 14’s Handwriting Competition
  • Fia who came 1st in both the Under 14’s Art and Handwriting Competitions.

We acknowledge participation in the NextGenerationEU Funded Project. This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through Next Generation EU. This funding was used to update WIFI and to install WIFI boosters in each classroom. We also bought Chromebooks.

Microbit 2025: This year our senior room spent some time learning how to code using a Microbit. We had to work on a project of our choice to help solve a real life problem. We worked as a team and came with the idea of a MicroFIT. Our project helped people with their health and wellbeing, You press a button and the MicroFIT displays a random activity e.g. jumping jacks, mountain climbers. We then went to Edgeworthstown to a Microsoft DreamSpace competition where we won a prize. We had a fantastic time.
